Information about Student Employee Appreciation Week

Career and Student Employment Services hosts an annual Student Employee Appreciation Week celebration every year. The week of February 11- 15, 2008 will mark the 22nd anniversary for this event. The week is dedicated to all student employees and is a time to recognize all the hard work and contributions that student employees make to the Western Michigan University community. The week also offers the opportunity to showcase an outstanding Student Employee and Student Supervisor.

Staff and faculty are encouraged to celebrate this week and show their student employees how much they are appreciated.

Career and Student Employment Services sends out certificates of appreciation to departments on campus who then distribute the certificates to their student employees. The departments are also encouraged to celebrate Student Employee Appreciation Week with their own employees. This celebration is a wonderful opportunity for students to interact with other members of the university community, and to learn more about how important they are to the educational mission of Western Michigan University.

One major activity of Student Employee Appreciation Week includes presenting awards to the Student Employee of the Year and the Supervisor of the Year during the Student Employee Appreciation Week Reception which will be held on Feb. 14, 2008, 3-5 PM. Supervisors can nominate student employees and student employees can nominate their supervisors. A judging event is held in the beginning of February to determine which nominees will win. This year you can go online at broncojobs.wmich.edu in December and nominate student employees and supervisors.
